Cop out blog entry number 287
It’s a bit late to blog. Can I fob you off with a limerick?
There was a young lady from Chad
(Though good grace wasn’t something she had,
And to call her a youth
’s not entirely the truth,
But one out of three isn’t bad.)
I never said it was going to be a good limerick.

| Oh bugger, I was really careful with the apostrophes in light of recent bloggage, then a sneaky little ’s’ sneaks in to the first line without me noticing… Comment by Jenny — July 27, 2004 at 1:13 PM |

| Two out of three confused me slightly, too. I think you have to read “lady” as an indication of gentility. The first line says that she’s The second line says that she lacks grace, which presumably disqualifies her as a lady. The third and fourth lines admit that she is not young, so presumably the fifth line affirms that she is really from Chad, and not actually Sudan nor Burkini Faso. One shouldn’t spend more time analyzing a poem thanthe author spent composing it, so I think we’re done now. Comment by Qov — July 27, 2004 at 9:15 PM |
