    Spamazon

I sent a nasty email to Amazon today.

I got an email from them yesterday, in HTML format, which was nothing more than an advert. At the bottom it said:

If you’d rather not receive any further notices of this sort from Amazon.co.uk, please visit the Your Account page. Under the Account Settings heading, click the “Update your communication preferences” link.

So I went and looked in my account settings, and there was already a big tick next to ‘Don’t send me any annoying adverts that will annoy me you annoying people’. There was also a tick next to ‘And if you do send me any annoying adverts, don’t send them in HTML format thankyouverymuch’.

So I wrote them a nice polite email explaining that their system didn’t seem to be taking my account settings into, um, account. Today I received a reply. It said:

To fine-tune your preferences, you may either visit “Your Account” at the top of any page and select “Update your communication preferences”

I KNOW THAT! I ALREADY DID THAT! IT DIDN’T WORK! THAT WAS THE WHOLE POINT OF THE EMAIL I SENT YOU YESTERDAY! DID YOU NOT READ IT?

I was, as you may gather, a little annoyed, and I think I communicated this effectively in the email I sent them today. If they don’t sort it out this time, I may have to reach for the thesaurus. I don’t know enough naughty words.

But enough of that. Tomorrow is the big day, when me and my Eggheads team mates reveal the non-egginess of our heads. Depending on what time I get home and how tired I am, I’ll either write a long and detailed report tomorrow night, or else I’ll fob you off with some feeble attempt at humour and save the Eggheads report for Thursday.

Watch this space. Or don’t. Depends if you care really.
